ABOUT YOUR NURSE
Hello! I’m Karen, and I’m so glad you’re here and interested in learning more about me and the story behind Little Lobes.
I’ve been a Nurse for nearly a decade, with clinical experience spanning from community and palliative care to surgical and critical care settings.
Early in my career, I worked as a Visiting Nurse, providing in-home care to chronically ill and palliative patients—work I truly loved. Being welcomed into people’s homes during such vulnerable moments taught me the importance of creating a calm, respectful, and personalized experience.
I’ve always been drawn to paediatrics, but I knew caring for critically ill children was not the right path for me emotionally. Creating Little Lobes felt like a natural way to combine my nursing background, my love for community care, and my experience as a mother.
HOW LITTLE LOBES CAME TO BE.
Ear piercing was a tradition my mother shared with me when I was a baby, and it was something I hoped to share with mine. When I started calling reputable piercing studios, I was surprised by how limited my options were. I learned very quickly that most piercing studios do not pierce babies or children under 5, and that the most accessible option was inside a busy mall. As a new mom, the idea of packing up baby gear, navigating crowds, and disrupting my baby’s routine was overwhelming.
What should have been a special milestone felt stressful instead.
I later discovered that in-home ear piercing services existed, however, most were located outside of Toronto, making them less accessible and more expensive for families in the city. That’s when I realized there was a real need for a local, trusted option for Toronto parents.
I spent a great deal of time researching safe practices, choosing a fully enclosed single-use piercing system and nickel-free starter earrings, because safety is especially important when working with babies and young children.
If you’re here, you’re likely looking for something that feels a little more clinical, professional, and reassuring. My goal is to provide exactly that—a safe, gentle experience that makes this milestone feel special for your family.
